Kathy Shutts developed her love for horses at a very young age, riding on her Uncle’s farm in Grand Rapids, Michigan where her dad was born and raised. Her favorite pastimes are riding and creating horse pieces. Owning horses for most of her life has instilled a passion for painting and drawing horses. Kathy utilizes many diverse mediums to capture the beauty and essence of each horse. Some of the mediums Kathy works with are stained glass, oil, watercolor, colored pencil and charcoal. Kathy has also written a children’s activity book helping young people learn about horses. She currently resides in Illinois and is an active member of the Palos Hills Horsemen’s Association and member of the American Academy of Equine Art. Since she has joined the Sheri Law Art Glass, Inc. group two years ago, she has found new ways to express her creativity and love for horses working with the many talented artists that take her designs and magically transform them into outstanding pieces of art glass. These carved, etched and sandblasted equine art pieces take many hours of combined talents that last a lifetime and lend itself to a new and refreshing artistic approach to capturing the beauty of the horse.
